| Anne Nielsen
Anderson,
LMSW - Social Worker and Admissions |
| |
I am a
licensed social worker and have worked at Bethany Home since
2000. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Bethany
College in 1999 and Master of Social Work from Kansas University
in 2004. I am currently working towards my clinical
[therapist] license (LSCSW). I moved from the Twin Cities
in Minnesota to Lindsborg in 1997 and have enjoyed the 'hidden
treasure' of peacefulness and beauty of rural Kansas.
While
reading and learning about current research in my field is very
important to me, I especially enjoy hearing our residents'
stories about their experiences and memories. Through this
time of sharing I learn what is important to them at this stage
in their life. This allows me to partner with them to make as
much as possible happen. I have found that most people
want many of the same things: to be loved and respected, to have
purpose and to be heard.
My
brother and I had the opportunity to care for our grandfather in
his home at the end of his life. He was a strong Augustana
Lutheran pastor for 51 years and he left an example of faith,
servant love and grace. I deeply loved him and I realize
that not everyone has the opportunity to say 'good-bye' at home.
My desire remains to care for those at Bethany Home as I cared
for and loved my own grandfather. |
