Who owns and operates Bethany Home?
The Central-States Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
 
When did Bethany Home commence operation?
November, 1911, with eleven residents.
 
How many people are living in Bethany Home today?
126 residents live in The Home.  69 residents live in The Home's 54 Self Care Cottages and other living units.
 
How can a person enroll?
By completing a one-page application, which includes a statement from their physician and the payment of a $35 application fee.
 
Is there an Admission or Development Fee?
Yes, when admitted to The Home, the Admission Fee is $350.  This is used to prepare the room and to set up records in the various departments.
 
What kind of care does Bethany Home offer?
The Home gives all levels of care for elderly persons, from simple personal care to twenty-four hour professional nursing care for total care residents.
 
Are there any financial restrictions on the admission or retention of residents?
No, none whatsoever.
 
What Endowment funds have been established?
Utility - Provides assistance in meeting costs for lighting, heat, water, etc.
Chaplaincy - These funds support the Chaplaincy program.
Activity Director & Social Work - Provides financial support for staffing and programming.
Advancement - Serves to underwrite the expenses of operating the office of Advancement.
Medical Care - Assists in the area of Nursing Services.
Administrative - Assists in financing the Administrator's position.

Rohm-Van Atta Restricted Capital Improvement Endowment - For major improvements.
BETH Fund - Boldly Embracing The Home Expense associated with supporting the nursing staff.
 
What kinds of activities are available for The Home's Residents?
A great variety of activities are provided for The Home and cottage residents.  These include: Weekly Chapel and Worship, along with a Bible Study, exercise classes, bingo, programs, resident bake days, game time of cards, dominoes, pool, song-fests, story hour, movies, crafts, concerts, "Surrey" rides, quilting, current events time, bus tours, shopping, dine out evenings in local and area restaurants and many other special events.
 
What kind of Spiritual emphasis is there in Bethany Home?
Sunday - 9:30 a.m. Worship
Tuesday - 10:30 a.m. Bible Study
Wednesday - 2:15 p.m. Chapel Service
Breakfast devotions each morning include the singing of hymns, reading of scripture, a devotional followed by prayer.
Rev. Bill Buschbom, our full-time Chaplain, coordinates all religious activities and is available for counseling.
 
What are the specific needs of Bethany Home?
We are always looking for dedicated, caring employees.
Continued annual and estate gifts; major and small, that will assist our annual operating budget and increase Endowment Funds which will subsidize escalating costs of resident care needs, assist in underwriting The Home's policy of caring for all regardless of means, as well as assisting in upgrades staff salaries and benefits.
An annual projects & needs list is available upon request.
 
Are visitors welcome in The Bethany Home?
ABSOLUTELY!  We love visitors and encourage particularly groups from churches and communities to arrange visits to The Home where we would be delighted to conduct a tour of our facilities, of which we are very proud.
 
What are the Primary Goals of Bethany Home?
Quality, Christian care for aging persons.
To recruit and retain quality, caring Christians for employment.
Build on to Endowment Funds designated to subsidize increased resident care needs.
To encourage church and individual financial support to underwrite the care of Medicaid residents.  (Those who have exhausted their financial resources.)  To increase Volunteerism in The Home.
