Activities and Social Services

The Bethany Home is an active place with a variety of activities and functions provided for the enjoyment of our residents. Daily activities are held in our Activities Center Monday through Friday. Residents are welcome and encouraged to enjoy the many and varied activities.

The Center may be reserved on Saturday and Sunday and some weekday evenings for birthdays, anniversaries, and other events. Residents may reserve the Center with either the Activities or Social Service Offices.

Daily Activities

• Morning Devotions at breakfast- hymns, scripture and prayer
• Games- Scrabble, Dominoes, Checkers, Jigsaw Puzzles, Pool, Cards, etc.
• Coffee and Snacks are available at all times
• The Library is open each day with daily papers and current periodicals along with a large variety of books
• Televisions are provided in lounges and resident rooms are cable ready.
• Group newspaper reading for the visually impaired

• Bake Days in Residents' Kitchen
• Barber and Beauty Shop- on site by appointment
• Bible Studies- Tuesdays 10:30am in the Chapel
• Bookmobile- Thursdays 2-4pm
• Chapel Service- Wednesdays 2:25pmChoir Chimes- Wed & Fridays 10:45am
• Choir Chimes- Wed & Fridays 10:45am
• Coffee Time- Tuesdays 9:45am Activities Center
• Current Events Discussion Group- Fridays 2:30pm Activities Center

• Happy Cart- Friday mornings, sponsored by the Bethany Home Auxiliary

• Bingo- Sponsored by Auxiliary, Activities Center
• Crafts
• Nail Polishing
• Shopping trips to McPherson and Salina

Monthly Activities

• Birthday Parties- honoring individuals celebrating birthdays in the current month, sponsored by Auxiliary
• Mending Days- sponsored by Auxiliary, in the Sewing & Quilting room of the Activities Center

Periodic and Seasonal Activities

• Concerts, programs and recitals
• Gardening- container, outdoor or indoor with Horticulture Therapist
• Movies- in the Activities Center
• Special Events Transportation
• "Surrey" Rides, Anniversary and Birthday observances and parties

Social Services

Our social service team assists both residents and their families during transitional periods. We also provide essential information, manage requests and concerns, help in care planning and discharge planning for each resident. We can arrange professional services for:

• Dental
• Vision
• Podiatry
• Audiology
• Dementia assessment
• Psychosocial and Psychiatric Evaluation
• Individual therapy
• Arrange transportation to appointments
• Accompanying resident to appointments upon request
• Power of Attorney
